THE BAUM EXPERIENCE

Building a guitar is not difficult, but building an excellent guitar requires time, knowledge, experience, the best materials and passion. We pay great attention to every little detail on every guitar. Every piece of wood is carefully selected and we use nothing but the best hardware. In short, we build guitars with the best materials possible, because players deserve nothing less.

the Design

WE ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT DESIGN

There are no coincidences on our guitars. When we design a guitar, we have both the esthetic and practical aspect in mind. Our approach is simple. Every musician is unique. This is why it is important to us to ensure each Baum guitar owner a unique expression. We pledge that only the right design will make it through the needles ‘eye.

THE MATERIALS

ONLY THE BEST MATERIALS

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and it takes the best materials to build the best guitars. We use Schaller hardware tuners, Tune-O-Matic roller bridges, Bigsby vibrators, TUSQ nuts, CTS pots with Spraque Orange Drops, extra hard nickel silver frets and top-quality wood. The guitars are built with one-piece bodies and tops and the woods are carefully selected and combined to achieve the best sustain and tone possible.

THE PROCESS

IT TAKES TIME

It takes approximately twelve weeks to build a Baum guitar. We have designed a custom shop builder module for every model page to make it easier to visualize your custom built guitar. When we receive your order, the first steps can begin. We select the wood for the body and top to match. Next each piece is shaped and contoured, painted and lacquered, lovingly cared for and put together. It is very much a hands-on process with a sharp, critical eye for details. No rush, no shortcuts, just time.

THE CONSTRUCTION

EVERY ASPECT MATTERS

Our necks are either made of maple or mahogany and always in one piece. They are smoothened with hard wood oil that produces a non-sticky surface. The combination of the TUSQ nut at one end of the string and the Schaller bridge with low-friction roller saddles at the other, ensures the best conditions for the strings to work at their highest performance. It also improves the overall tone and sustain on our guitars. Our necks are designed with a 10-degree angled headstock, to stabilize and optimize the playability, sustain and tuning stability. Lastly, the guitars are well isolated to kill any unwanted hum.

THE FEELING

OF MEETING AN OLD FRIEND
– FOR THE FIRST TIME

The combination of our selected materials and craftsmanship enables us to build a guitar, which feels comfortable and inspiring from the first meeting. We aspire to generate the warm sensation of meeting an old friend when you pick a Baum guitar and plug it in.

The Sound

WE SEEK OUR OWN SOUND

And to do that, we have developed our own series of hand wound pickups – Goldsound pickups, exclusively on Baum guitars.
The Baum sound is unique. It is the culmination of our combination of woods, premium hardware and our unique pickups. Lastly, all our guitars are fitted with handmade strings from Stringjoy, USA.
